The New Zealand Wine Directory Limited is a new company formed by John and Glenys Bartlett with the intention of developing an online directory of New Zealand wine and viticulture related websites. The New Zealand Wine Directory has been in the making for a number of years, the idea for the business evolving from my first website NZ Wine Links which he started back in 2002 as a hobby.
The aim of "NZ Wine Links:" was to connect wine lovers from around the world with New Zealand's wines and viticulture via an easy to navigate online index or directory service. There have been a couple of iterations of the site as technology changed and it is was last hosted as NZ Wine Links on Wordpress both sites generating many visit and contacts from within NZ and internationally.
We are now taking NZ Winelinks to the "next level" with The New Zealand Wine Directory which will be a become a premium online collection of links to the New Zealand wine industry.
We both love New Zealand wines, have a small but "ever-changing" cellar and are members of wine tasting clubs including Cellar Masters and The New Brighton Wine Club myself being the Vice President and blog-master. We also have quite a collection of books on New Zealand wine over the years some dating back to the 1960's - about 70-ish at last count.
My (John's) background is in information management with over 20 years in the library and information sector as a Reference Librarian. For the last five years of employment at the National Library I managed the Curriculum Information Service team at The National Library in Christchurch, facilitating the loan of educational resources and provision of digital information to all primary and secondary schools throughout the South Island.
I'm experienced in digital information and Web 2.0 environments such as developing NLNZ School Services websites, blogs and supporting and training staff in the use of web 2.0 and new digital resources. I also worked on National Library projects with development and delivery of online services for schools such as, AnyQuestions.co.nz and ManyAnswers.co.nz - two very successful digital initiatives for New Zealand students.
Glenys has worked both in a number of areas mostly in early childhood education and with special needs children at primary school level, as well as bringing up 3 children (now adult) and helping with our 6 grand children.
We look forward to the challenges ahead in our new venture and we hope that you will come along with us on this journey as we develop over the next few years.
Cheers!
John & Glenys Bartlett
