Modern Pidemont Dinner @ Hillside Kitchen

On Tuesday 4 April we will be hosting Simon Kelly from Lubrication Wines importer of the wines of Valfaccenda and Sottimano. Valfaccenda is a very new domaine producing stunningly precise, focused Arneis and Nebbiolo from the hills of Roero and Sottimano are based in Barbaresco with eRobertparker.com describing them thus: “These wines stand out for the consistency they show across the board. Over the years, this estate has perfected a house style based on feminine grace and elegance.

Subtle sensorial differences based solely on cru selection distinguish each wine.” For those of you unfamiliar with the wines of Piedmont, they are some of the most exciting wines in the world, with 4 main varieties: Arneis, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo (whose highest expressions come from the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations). This dinner will showcase all four varieties (and will feature an extremely rare sweet wine from the famed modernist Austrian producer Gut Oggau) accompanied by Hillside Kitchen’s modern, kiwi take on traditional Piemontese dishes.
