Entries Open for 2019 NZ International Wine Show

The New Zealand International Wine Show is the largest wine competition held in New Zealand each year.  Wines from any country and from any variety can be entered and in 2018 over 2,000 wines were received resulting in 257 Gold, 355 Silver and 822 Bronze medals being awarded.

25 Trophies were awarded for best in class wines, winemaker and wine company of the show and the Sir George Fistonich medal for a Legend of New Zealand Wine.  Click the link below to see all results.

The 2019 competition will be conducted under the Chairmanship of Bob Campbell MW, New Zealand’s most experienced senior wine judge and leading wine educator.  The senior judges involve a number of leading winemakers, several Masters of Wine and many key industry personnel, most of whom have been involved in major wine competitions for more than a decade.  Subscribe to our trade mailing list above, or like our facebook page and we will keep you up to date.

Entries close on 20th September and all entry details can be found on www.nziws.co.nz.

A new addition to the Show this year is the introduction of a series of public tastings of selected gold medal and trophy wines in association with our principal wine show sponsor, Nissan New Zealand.  These November tastings will be held in Auckland (all of the gold medal wines), Hastings, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch and Dunedin.

The New Zealand International Wine Show attracts over 2,000 entries each year and since its inception has been the largest wine competition in the country.  Once again, we will have Bob Campbell MW as Chief Judge, with his Assistant Chief Judges Larry McKenna and John Hancock.  Nothing beats experience when it comes to wine judging and we have a legendary team of 24 senior judges.

The Awards Dinner is in Auckland on Friday 25th October.
