Sherwood Estate Wines achieves Gold at the New World Wine Awards!
Sherwood Estate Wines has recently been awarded a Gold Medal at the New World Wine Awards for the Sherwood Estate Signature Family Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2013. This is the second year in a row that Sherwood Estate has been awarded a Gold Medal at this show.
“We are very pleased with the result. The team at Sherwood Estate have always been obsessed with the growing, making and drinking of Pinot Noir. This obsession began over twenty five years ago, long before it became fashionable to drink, let alone grow,” explains Dayne Sherwood (Managing Director/Owner).
The objective of the competition is to identify the best quality wines for the consumers at an affordable price. The wines are judged according to the internationally recognised 20-point system by an independent panel of 13 expert wine judges. “The quality of wines entered overall was outstanding. I think this reflects the wine industry’s growing recognition of the credibility and value of the New World Wine Awards,” emphasises Jim Harré, Chair of the judging panel.
Of the 1,165 wines entered, the judging panel awarded 63 Gold, 160 Silver and 454 Bronze medals – 677 medals altogether. The highest number of medals awarded since the New World Wine Awards began 12years ago.
The medal winning wines are distributed and promoted in New World’s 138 supermarkets nationwide. The top 50 selection of Gold medal-winning wines will be showcased in the New World Wine Awards booklet available online and in stores from 29 September.
