Sherwood Estates Wines has recently been awarded with an important Double Gold medal for the Sherwood Estate Signature Family Pinot Gris 2013, at the biggest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in China, the CWSA.

‘We are very pleased with the result. Both the viticultural and winemaking teams have worked hard to produce a Waipara Valley Pinot Gris that is both high in quality and affordable for the everyday drinker,’ exclaims Petter Evans (Production Manager/ Chief Winemaker).

The China Wine & Spirits Awards competition judges are both highly regarded Chinese nationals and foreigners now based permanently in China. These judges are known as the ‘powerhouse’ of decision making in Hong Kong and China, and include the most influential distributors, importers, hoteliers and sommeliers. They travel far and wide from fast growing urban centres including Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Taiwan and Hong Kong. There were entries from 35 countries in this competition.

“The results are taken seriously, Chinese and Hong Kong industry and media consider the CWSA medal winners as the benchmark of important wines for the year ahead. The CWSA has also been likened to the Academy awards of the wine industry in China and Hong Kong,” emphasises Kelly England, CWSA President.

The Sherwood Estate Signature Family Wines are available from specialty retail outlets and leading supermarkets both nationwide and internationally.
