Three Miners Vineyard is a family-owned 17 hectare estate in Central Otago, situated on the Wine & Tourist trail in the heart of Earnscleugh Valley between picturesque Alexandra and the historic village of Clyde. The area is where gold was discovered in the 1860s and hundreds of miners panned and cradled the gold-bearing sands bordering the Vineyard.
The vineyard was established by husband and wife team Jeff Price and Julie Mitchell in 2000 and the estate now consists of 12.5 hectares of Pinot Noir along with 1 hectare each of Riesling, Gewürztraminer and 2.5 hectares of Pinot Gris. Their wines have interesting mining related names such as Warden’s Court Pinot Noir, Herringbone Riesling, Miner’s Right Pinot Gris and Chinaman Stone Gewurztraminer.
Over the past decade Three Miners Vineyards can boast a modern-day equivalent of striking gold in the form of the remarkable number of awards and accolades won and has grown to become an internationally recognised top wine. Today, Three Miners Vineyards produce high quality award-winning wine from that same soil and is an accredited sustainable vineyard.
