Boutique Wine Festival Brings the Best of NZ to Auckland
Thursday, 29 May 2014
After a successful launch in 2013, the second annual New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival is set to return to Auckland’s Imperial Building on Sunday 15 June 2014.
This year’s festival will see 21 boutique vineyards from around New Zealand showcasing more than 200 wines across a huge range of varietals, creating a one-of-a-kind cellar door experience.
Throughout the day, event attendees will be able to explore wines from different regions, enjoy fantastic food and wine pairings, great live music, and participate in blind tasting seminars throughout the day.
Master classes led by Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas and Wine Editor JoBurzynska will provide engaging content for wine aficionados; and a two course set lunch created by Matterhorn head chef James Pask, whose experience has seen him work in Michelin-star restaurants, will ensure food lovers are well-catered for.
Event founder Ash Lomberg says that the event is something that the industry and the public are clamouring for.
“This event allows visitors the opportunity to sample a wide variety of great wines in a single venue, to learn, to taste, to discover – only highest quality wines from the nation’s best vineyards and regions,” he says.
Early Bird Tickets are just $29 which include entry, festival glass, and your first tasting (offer expires Friday 7th June).
General Admission tickets are $39 online before the event or $49 at the door.

The NZ Boutique Wine Festival is being put on by Auckland based wine enthusiasts Ash Lomberg and Jacqueline Taylor. After identifying key industry trends such as the exiting of smaller vineyards from the market and heavily discounted retail prices of wines through larger retailers, Ash and Jacqueline have set out to help the smaller lesser known vineyards get some mainstream exposure. The Boutique Wine Festival is the first stage of a three year plan which includes holding an annual boutique wine festival, boutique wine awards (HOT100 Boutique Wines) and boutique wine dinner.
The event will be attended by people who purchase tickets through eventfinda, wine makers, and industry experts.
