The Boutique Wine Festival is back, and it has a new brother – the Welly Boutique Wine Festival.
The Auckland Boutique Wine Festival (ABWF) will be held once again at Generator @GridAKL in Wynyard Quarter on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September. The Welly Boutique Wine Festival (WBWF) will have its inaugural event at Foxglove on Queens Wharf in the capital city on Saturday 28th August.
After a Covid19 years’ hiatus, the team at Craft’d Events have strategized and redeveloped a whole new offering for New Zealand wine enthusiasts. The Boutique Wine Festival originated in Auckland in 2013 making it one of the oldest wine festivals in New Zealand. Craft’d Events CEO Sue Duncan says that one of the long-term visions when she purchased the festival in 2017 was to bring the festival to Wellington. Vision accomplished and 2021 sees its inclusion in the famous Visa Wellington On A Plate Festival held through August.
“Craft’d Events focus for the BWF’s remains singularly to promote, support and showcase New Zealand’s small producers providing an experiential platform for them to share their products, their innovation and genuine passion, face-to-face with attendees,” Duncan said. This year, unique to the BWF’s is the ‘Trolley Dolly’ experience. The exhibitors are scheduled through the day to sell their wines on our drinks trolley with all the trimmings and eco-disposable glasses. Free to move around the venue offering their wines, this provides another contact point while the attendees are relaxing listening to the live music and enjoying the food offerings.
Focused on customer experience, attendees will be able to make bottle purchases at the festival. A convenient ‘dispensary’ means the wines purchased to take away can be collected on departure. No more lugging bottles around with you or deciding not to buy bottles ‘coz it’s too hard’. Perfect if you are heading off for the rest of the afternoon or out to dinner later that night.
Live music right through the festivals, free masterclasses, thoughtfully matched tapas offerings and our legendary ‘White wine’ and ‘Red wine’ cheese platters will be available at both festivals.
