Welcome to the ninth annual (2022) Aotearoa Organic Wine Awards. (NZ Organic Wine Awards internationally)
Update from Luke Thomas. Aotearoa/NZ Organic Wine Awards Director
What a year! Another year of highs and low’s, but the highs are definitely outweighing the lows! Organic wine continues it’s rise to dominance (it’s good to be optimistic!). I was heartened to see the results from the GT Wine Magazine awards, as far as I can tell, all of the award winners stem from Organic Wineries, so a huge congratulations. NZ Organic Wines also remain hugely over-represented in the top echelons all national and international awards medals and honours lists.
Sadly we have not yet been able to host the ‘Taste The Champions’ evening we had planned at 27 Steps. Level 3 and Level 2 restrictions made life tricky for our venue to operate a walk up style bar. Twenty Seven steps is undergoing an extension to add a new bar, which we hope to be early patrons of. So- pandemic, and council sign off pending, we will look to run this within the next few months. Thank you to those wineries who supported this, your wine is being well looked after ready for the delayed event!
There are a number of recently eligible wineries that have been added to this mailing list. Welcome, and I hope that you will join our Organic awards community this year.
The 2022 Awards are now open for entry, the closing date for entries to be submitted and samples received is the 25th March 2022. Results will be published, and subsequent media will be available on the 9th May. As always we do not charge an entry or administration fee, awards media will be provided free of charge, and we will arrange for a group buy medal sticker price with no mark-up. All part of our commitment to help grow the NZ Organic wine industry.
60% of our entrants do not enter any other wine awards.
