Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day

As we celebrate Sauvignon Blanc across the world, I’d like to share with you a dozen of favourite Savvies that I have reviewed over the last 12 months.

Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day

Which one should I choose?

I love Sauvignon Blanc, from the pungent herbal, capsicum and armpit, to the riper juicy and tropical, to the barrel and wild fermented savvies – if they have been well made, I love them all.

There is so much diversity in styles of Sauvignon Blanc produced across the regions, the influences from the different terroir, the viticulture / winemaking techniques, that every now one I taste is a whole new experience – no two are alike.

Sauvignon Blanc is by far the most planted grape variety in New Zealand making up 73% of total production and 86% of wine exports, as seen in the image below.

Sunday Sip… My first ever taste of Sarah Jessca Parker's Sauvignon Blanc – was very pleasantly surprised. Invivo "SJP X" Sauvignon Blanc 2019 Marlborough NZ Bright, very pale straw coloured in the glass. Fresh sweet nose of ripe tropical fruit & zingy citrus / grapefruity notes. Medium body / viscocity, and wonderfully balanced / integrated on the palate – there's a hint of subtle oak texture & creamy lees influence softening the acidity and providing a smooth, mouthfilling wine with a medium finish. Excellent Blending Sarah! Love it! Highly recommend you try this – elegant and subtle – fab food wine – excellent value to at just RRP:$20.00 13.% ABV #wine #nzwine #invivo #sjpxinvivo #sauvignonblanc #marlborough https://invivoxsjp.com/

And I'm back – after 2.5 weeks on antibiotics for a nasty chest infection, I can finally smell and taste again. YEAH! What better way to kick off tasting again than a Tohu Whenua Awa – Awatere Valley, Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Marlborough NZ – a new series of wines from Tohu – the Whenua single vineyard wines are "a gift from the land, our t?rangawaewae, the place where we stand. Each wine is an expression of the uniqueness of our standing place, and our enduring connection to the land." https://www.tohuwines.co.nz/whenua Notes: Clear pale straw in colour with lush tropical fruit aromas & a whiff of savoury green stalkiness / armpit in the nose often typical from the Awatere. Silky smooth palate with lots of lovely grapefruity acidity, passionfruit & savoury herb flavours – textured, zesty, med-dry finish – clean, refreshing and just gorgeous! High;ly recommend you get a bottle or 2 of this! 13.0% ABV RRP: $40.00 #nzwine #sauvignonblanc #awaterevalley #organicwine #savvy #marlborough #whenuaawa
