The Graduates ‘777’ Pinot Noir 2025, Martinborough NZ
In the glass, translucent mid raspberry to ruby red in colour, lighter at the rim. In the nose, it’s fragrant & fresh, aromas of red berries, hints of plum, cherry & spice. On the palate, soft & silky, sweet red berries & baking spice flavours, it’s nicely integrated & well balanced with fine grained tannins & acidity, subtle oak & malo influence adding texture & complexity. Tasty dry finish. Excellent.

The Graduates ‘All Day Rosé’ 2026, Martinborough NZ
In the glass, bright pale salmon pink in colour with a subtle copper hue. In the nose fresh raspberry / strawberry & cream aromas, a touch of grapefruit & spice. On the palate, ripe summer berries & cream flavours reflect the nose, the acidity & texture is crisp with a little wet-stone, mineral grip. The finish is long & bone dry but juicy. Excellent Pinot Noir Rosé, just in time for Spring & Summer sipping.

The Graduates ‘Ghost Noir’ Blanc de Noir 2026, Martinborough NZ
In the glass, almost clear, glossy & the palest ‘ghostly’ pink colour ever. In the nose, inviting aromas of red berries: strawberries & cream, tart raspberries & a little citrus note. On the palate it’s light, crisp & refreshing, with red summer berry fruit flavours predominant, a steely acidity & subtle, wet-stone textural elements too. Just off-dry, juicy, & lightly grippy on the finish. An excellent spring & summer sip.

The Graduates, ‘3SUM’ Sauvignon Blanc 2026, Martinborough NZ
In the glass, shiny, clear pale straw in colour with a subtle green hue. In the nose, vibrant tropical aromas of guava, pineapple & savoury dried herb / sea salt notes. On the palate, slight creamy mouthfeel, then a crisp lemon citrus acidity & juicy tropical pineapple & melon fruit flavours reflecting the nose. Has a nice we ‘grippy’ texture and a long juicy finish. Tasty!

Stradling Wines ‘Kina Tides’ Chardonnay 2024, Mouteka, Nelson NZ
In the glass, mid straw-gold in colour with a very faint haze, light viscosity. In the nose, fresh aromas of ripe nectarine, peach, lemon citrus, light oak & salty mineral elements. On the palate juicy & crisp, fleshy stone-fruit, honeydew melon & grapefruit citrus flavours, there’s a lively acidity, subtle oak influence & ‘wet stone’ grip all adding complexity & texture. First wine from Laurie, using organic fruit, wild ferment & lees aging in neutral oak, un-fined & unfiltered. Juicy, dry finish. Only 1300 bottles produced.

Rockburn Wines ‘Crimson Peak’ Pinot Noir 2024, Central Otago NZ
In the glass, translucent mid ruby red in colour, lighter at the rim. In the nose, sweet fruit aromas of plum, dark cherry & red berries, a subtle hint of oak spice too. On the palate, fruity silky & nicely balanced, sweet fruit reflecting the nose, plum cherry & a hint of raspberry, there’s a fresh acidity still, fine powdery tannins & nutty oak all nicely in balance. Mahi Wine ‘Chardonnay’ 2024, Marlborough NZ
In the glass, glossy soft yellow-gold in colour, medium bodied, great legs. In the nose a touch of smoke then aromas of nectarine, peach & lemon citrus & nutty notes. The palate is juicy, concentrated, stone-fruit & citrus fruit flavours, a bright acidity & creamy textural mouthfeel, spiced oak & whetstone / mineral elements all in perfect balance. A long, mouthwatering finish. Love it – Delicious.

In the glass, bright translucent ruby to raspberry red in colour, lighter at the rim. In the ‘very inviting’ nose, there’s aromas of red berries, red cherries, red currants, some subtle savoury and mineral notes too. On the palate, lovely concentrated & juicy fruit flavours reflecting the nose, summer cherries & raspberries, dark plum, a complex & beautifully textured mouthfeel, lightly grippy fruit tannins & a fresh juicy acidity, with subtle savoury notes. The finish is long, dry & very elegant. Excellent.

In the glass, shiny & bright, mid straw-gold in colour, medium viscosity. In the nose, aromas of fresh peaches, nectarines, green apple & subtle oyster shell / mineral notes. On the palate it’s lush & concentrated with flavours of ripe stone-fruit & citrus all underpinned by a ‘grape-fruity’ acid drive & light creamy mouthfeel from time in barrel. Layers of texture & complexity allfinishing off-dry with great length. A delicious, elegant & most memorable Chardonnay. Excellent. In the glass, clear, glossy deep – gold in colour, medium viscosity. In the nose, inviting aromatics of nashi pear, red apple, lemon citrus & honey. On the palate it’s juicy & concentrated, very fruit-focused, with fresh apple, pear & ‘seared’ pineapple fruit flavours. There’s a crisp citrus acidity & fine grip, ‘pear skin’ textures & mouthfeel, subtle mineral notes. The finish is just off-dry and very moreish. Excellent. This wine was fermented and matured entirely in a glass Wineglobe and only 180 bottles were produced. Available from Great Little Vineyards. Blackenbrook Pinot Noir Rosé 2026, Nelson NZ
In the glass, vibrant & shiny watermelon pink in colour. In the nose lashings of sweet raspberry & strawberry fruit aromas then creamy & spice notes follow. On the palate it’s juicy & moreish, red berry fruit flavours to the fore, fine fruit tannins & a fresh acidity addi texture & grip, the finish is off dry with just 5g/L RS but tastes sweeter. A really delicious rosé, spring just around the corner – perfect!

Blackenbrook Gewurztraminer 2026, Nelson NZ
In the glass, glossy & almost clear with a soft green-gold hue. In the nose, quite floral, aromas of white roses, Turkish Delight, lychee & a subtle savoury spice note. On the palate, richly textured, lightly oily mouthfeel / weight, a little ‘grip’ from a fresh acidity then flavours of Turkish Delight & sweet spices. A full flavoured & concentrated long off-dry finish. Very yum.

Blackenbrook Sauvignon Blanc 2026, Nelson NZ
In the glass, pale straw in colour with subtle green hues. In the nose, fragrant & vibrant with aromas of tropical fruit, green apple, gooseberry & hints of dried herb. On the palate, ripe tropical & tart gooseberry fruit flavours, zesty lime-citrus acidity & grippy textural elements hints of sweet fruit on the long mouth-watering finish. Delicious.

JOIY ‘State of Grace’ Pinot Gris, 250ml Can, Wairarapa NZ
In the glass, shiny mid straw-gold in colour, medium viscosity. In the floral nose, aromas of fresh pear, red apple & spices. On the palate, juicy pear & green apple fruit flavours, a grippy ‘pear skin’ like texture & a fresh crunchy acidity. There’s a wee spicy note on the bone dry finish too. In the glass, opaque pale orange in colour, light, short mousse / bubbles on pouring. In the nose, fresh aromas of freshly squeezed oranges! Matawhero Wines ‘Irwin’ Chardonnay 2016, Gisborne NZ
In the glass, bright & clear, deep yellow gold in colour, subtle green hue. In the nose ripe peach, apricot & sweet rock melon aromas, vanilla biscuit & nutty oak baling spices too. On the palate medium weighted, nicely integrated & well balanced, driven by juicy stone-fruit & melon flavours, a light but refreshing acidity & finely textured toasty oak & spice. In the glass, glossy, clear, deep yellow-gold in colour, great legs. In the nose, complex & inviting, smoke & butterscotch, then aromas of peach, apricot, rock-melon & toasty oak. On the palate, flavours or ripe stone-fruit, seared pineapple, it’s rich & layered, a grape-fruity acidity & spicy oak texture, softened by full malo & barrel aging sur-lie (on lees) all adding depth & complexity. It’s creamy with a fresh acidity & subtle oak / malo / lees influence all in harmony, beautifully textured resulting in a lengthy & concentrated dry finish. On the palate it’s medium weighted with a silky texture & luscious mouthfeel, flavours reflecting the nose with Turkish delight (sans chocolate coating) & ginger spice predominant, nice heat from 14% abv. and a long succulent, very tasty finish.

In the glass, shiny, clear pale straw in colour with a subtle green hue. In the nose, fresh & fruity aromas of passion-fruit & feijoa, lemon & green apple. On the palate, it has a nice weight & mouthfeel, lush fruit sweetness at 21g/L, flavours of green apple & tropical fruit, a zesty lemon/lime acidity all ending in a juicy fresh finish. In the glass, translucent, bright ruby / raspberry red in colour, lighter at the rim. In the nose, vibrant, fruit-driven, aromas of summer cherries, black berries & plums, subtle smoke, dried herb, forest-floor notes. On the palate, medium bodied, fruit-forward, concentrated cherry, plum & boysenberry. Beautifully textured, a fresh acidity, slightly grippy tannins & fine oak all adding complexity & depth. On the palate, smooth, rounded, succulent, berry & cherry flavours reflecting the nose, a fresh acidity, silky polished tannins & lots of spice, smoke & savoury elements. Ayrburn ‘Homestead’ Pinot Noir 2024, Bendigo, Central Otago NZ
In the glass, translucent deep ruby red – garnet in colour to the rim. In the nose, fragrant & lush, aromas of red & dark berries, ripe plums, hints of cocoa & baking spices. On the palate, ripe & rich, concentrated dark berry flavours, the acidity is juicy & fresh, savoury notes, barrel spice & grippy tannins all adding layers of texture and complexity. Nicely rounded on the finish, bone dry but juicy! Excellent.

Ayrburn Pinot Noir 2025, Central Otago NZ
In the glass, translucent deep garnet – purple in colour to the rim. In the nose, fresh aromas of black doris plum, dark berries, some savoury herb and oak spice notes. On the palate, nicely weighted, juicy, intense red & black berry flavours, savoury & spice notes, a fresh grippy acidity & fine powdery tannins, a savoury, textured mouthfeel & a fruity & concentrated, long dry finish. In the glass, semi translucent deep ruby – garnet in colour to the rim. In the nose, floral, fragrant with a hint of smoke, then aromas of red & black berries, dark plums & savoury dried herb notes. On the palate generous & moreish, flavours of sweet, juicy raspberry, boysenberry, red cherry. Medium bodied with a fresh acidity, layered & complex with silky smooth tannins & subtle oak influence. Ayrburn Billy’s Chardonnay 2025, Central Otago NZ
In the glass, glossy pale gold in colour, subtle green hue, medium viscosity. In the nose, fresh aromas of ripe peach, red apple & lemon citrus, then barrel spice & a stony mineral note. On the palate, it’s juicy & textural, medium bodied, fruit forward wine, with flavours of white peach, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest & a lime-citrus acidity, stony grip & subtle smoky oak influence. Ayrburn Chardonnay 2025, Central Otago NZ
In the glass, bright & shiny lemon – gold in colour, medium viscosity. In the nose a hint of smoke / flint then enticing aromas of ripe peach, nectarine, lemon citrus, vanilla & subtle oak spice. On the palate it’s rich, lightly creamy with ripe & juicy, stone-fruit & citrus flavours, a crisp, tart grape-fruity acidity, savoury & nutty notes with layers of texture, grip & complexity all in balance. In the glass, translucent deep ruby red -garnet in colour. In the nose, inviting aromas of cherries, red & black berries, ripe dark plums, then notes of vanilla & spice. On the palate it’s rich & fruity, flavours reflecting the nose, berry cherry & plum. Nicely textured, fresh acidity, fine tannins & lees / oak influence are all in harmony, the long finish is slightly savoury, dry & just delicious. An excellent example of Marlborough Pinot Noir. Trinity Hill ‘Gimblett Gravels’ Chardonnay 2024 Hawke’s Bay NZ
In the glass, bright glossy yellow-gold in colour. In the nose, quite fragrant, aromas of ripe stone-fruit, fresh citrus zest, hints of smoke, nutty, toasty & warm spice notes too. On the palate, concentrated nectarine, peach & grapefruit flavours, supported with a fresh acidity & layers of complexity. On the palate, crisp & juicy with citrus & tropical fruit flavours, quite luscious with fruit sweetness, a zesty acidity & lightly grippy minerality all providing texture and mouthfeel. In the glass, semi translucent dark ruby – garnet red in colour. In the nose it’s floral & fruity, aromas of dark & red berries, black olives, earth, pencil shavings & spices. On the palate it’s rich, ripe & very moreish, fruit flavours of cherries & berries, a hint of chocolate, wonderfully balanced with silky tannins & fresh acidity, savoury & smokey spice notes follow on a long dry concentrated finish. Luna Estate Pinot Meunier Rosè 2024, Martinborough NZ
In the glass, shiny deep salmon / strawberry pink in colour with copper hues. In the nose, lovely floral & candyfloss notes then bright strawberry, raspberry & spice aromas. On the palate it’s very moreish, with ripe red berry & cherry fruit flavours, a crunchy, grape-fruity acidity, softened with a creamy textured mouthfeel, hints of baking spice in the really long delicious dry fruity & concentrated finish.

Tony Bish Wines ‘Heartwood’ Chardonnay 2024, Hawke’s Bay NZ
In the glass, glossy clear mid gold in colour, great legs / viscosity. In the nose, ripe stone-fruit aromas of peach, nectarine & apricot, a hint of flint & notes of vanilla biscuit, brioche & oak spice. On the palate, rich and textured, flavours reflecting the nose, the juicy lemony acidity is balanced by a creamy mouthfeel, nice fruit weight & fine nutty oak influence.
