On a Mission to Grow New Zealand’s Wine Industry
The Chairmen of Ngatarawa Wines and Mission Estate Winery today announced that Mission Estate will acquire the Ngatarawa brands; The Stables, Stables Reserve, Glazebrook and Alwyn.
Chairman of Mission Estate, Phil Hocquard comments: “We respect the heritage and standing of Ngatarawa in the wine community and value its addition to the Mission brand portfolio. This is an exciting move for Hawke’s Bay and the industry, representing a new era for Mission.”
Chairman of Ngatarawa Wines, Brian Corban said that the Ngatarawa directors were pleased the brands would become part of a well-established winery that has a direct stake in the region and understands the New Zealand wine business.
Ngatawara’s impressive wine portfolio is well established and recognised in the New Zealand market. With more than 30 years’ experience making Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Riesling, Ngatawara has also been working with new and experimental varietals and styles, blending art and science to make wines for the 21st century.

Mission Estate Winery was established in 1851 by pioneering French Missionaries and is New Zealand’s oldest winery.
Ngatarawa Wines was founded in 1981 by Alwyn Corban and Garry Glazebrook and is recognised as the pioneer of the Bridge Pa Triangle in Hawke’s Bay. Ngatarawa is owned by cousins Alwyn and Brian Corban.
The sales process is due to be completed by 30 June this year.
