Congratulations to all the successful New Zealand Wine producers at the 2016 Decanter World Wine Awards.
There were nearly 16,000 wine tasted this year with 31 wines awarded Platinum – Best in Show, 130 Platinum, 378 Gold, 2,567 Silver, 6,254 Bronze medals awarded.
That’s 9,360 medals in total plus add to that the 3,764 that were awarded the Decanter Seal of Approval – so all in all 13,124 wines of the 16,000 tasted won something!
Imagine the logistics at Decanter compared to our Wine awards here in New Zealand…
New Zealand Wines took away a total of 454 medals with 7 Platinum and 16 Gold medals being awarded this year.
There were 128 Silver medals and 194 Bronze Medals awarded to NZ Wines plus 109 wines were given the Decanter Seal of Approval (previously commended) by judges.
Marlborough again received the highest number of awards with 275 medals followed by the Hawke’s Bay with 66 and Central Otago with 48 medals.
Entries this year were from 145 New Zealand wine producers / label / brands…
