As a new act begins for Marlborough’s creative and performing arts, Whitehaven Wine Company will step into the spotlight as the full naming-rights sponsor of what will be known as the Whitehaven Theatre Marlborough from 1 April 2026.
The announcement marks a milestone in the longstanding partnership between Whitehaven and the Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust (MCTT), reinforcing both organisations’ shared commitment to nurturing arts, culture, and community in the region.

Whitehaven has been a proud supporter of the theatre for a decade, having sponsored the Whitehaven Wine Room since 2016. The company’s deep roots in Marlborough and strong advocacy for local talent and culture have made this partnership a natural extension of its long-standing dedication to the region.
“As a Marlborough born business, supporting our community is at the heart of who we are,” says Sue White, co-founder of Whitehaven Wine Company. “For 10 years, we’ve stood alongside the Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust, celebrating the performing arts and the people who bring them to life. Stepping into the role of full theatre sponsor is an honour. Our region thrives when arts and culture thrive, and we’re committed to helping create a space where creativity, expression, and community connection continue to flourish.”
The Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust welcomes this next chapter with enthusiasm, recognising Whitehaven’s long-standing contribution to the theatre and the wider arts ecosystem.
“This is a partnership built on shared values and deep community spirit,” says Joseph Casalme, CEO of the Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust. “Whitehaven has been a valued supporter of the Theatre for many years, and we’re thrilled to strengthen this relationship. Each year, the theatre supports more than 30 community groups, schools, and arts organisations, and last year alone we welcomed more than 13,000 attendees to arts events. Whitehaven’s commitment ensures we can continue to grow this impact and remain a cornerstone of Marlborough’s community.”
The transition follows ASB Bank’s decision to conclude its longstanding sponsorship of Theatre Marlborough. “We’ve been proud to support the Theatre from the very beginning, building strong connections within the Marlborough community. We look forward to maintaining these relationships and wish the organisation every success,” says Mark Graham, ASB Executive Manager, Commercial Partnerships.
MCTT acknowledges ASB’s many years of support and the important role it has played in helping establish the theatre as a vibrant community hub. As the baton passes to Whitehaven, the Trust looks forward to building on this legacy while ushering in a new chapter of community support.
