Winetopia 2017 Embraces Auckland & Wellington

New Zealand’s biggest wine tasting event grows to embrace Auckland & Wellington

New Zealand’s largest wine tasting event, Winetopia 2017 presented by Singapore Airlines is scheduled to return to Auckland’s Shed 10 from 9-10 June before debuting in Wellington at Shed 6 from 14-15 July.

The festival aims to unlock the diverse world of wine, offering wine lovers the opportunity to meet winemakers and try hundreds of wines from dozens of wineries from regions across New Zealand, accompanied by expertly paired food, music and ideas.

The 2017 programme features expert talks and tasting masterclasses presented by some of the country’s leading wine gurus and personalities.

After three sold out sessions in Auckland in 2016, the new Winetopia Wellington has already registered strong interest according to Director Rob Eliott.

“New Zealand boasts over 670 wineries, far too many for an average Kiwi to check out in one lifetime. We’ve created Winetopia to take attendees far beyond the well-known, behind the closed door of the vineyards and cellar doors of our beautiful country and into the minds of the people that make our world-famous drop,” Eliott said.

Australian wine guru Nick Stock will return to Auckland to share his vast wine knowledge, and leading the charge in Wellington will be the country’s most prolific wine commentator Bob Campbell (MW). Award-winning sommeliers from leading local restaurants will offer tips on food and wine matching.

Singapore Airlines, the presenting sponsors will help visitors explore one of their lead destinations – France – with dedicated French vs NZ wine tastings and the chance for all event attendees to enter to win a return flight for two to Paris with Singapore Airlines.

Punters will also have the opportunity to share a glass with a selection of Kiwi personalities when comedian Brendhan Lovegrove takes to the stage in both cities with a line-up of well-known faces.

Winetopia will be held in Auckland on 9-10 June and in Wellington for the first time on 14-15 July. There will be three sessions in each city; Friday from 5:00pm – 8:30pm, Saturday from 12:00pm – 3:30pm and 4:30pm – 8:00pm.

Further line-up and scheduling announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
