Bringing together leading industry experts and speakers from across the motu and the globe the conference caters to all wine industry producers, from the certified organic to the curious, imparting innovation, knowledge and networking to inspire the future of winegrowing.
The event will acknowledge the traditions of Matariki (the M?ori new year) and the winter solstice. Themes for the event are under the earth, above the ground, and into the sky – ki raro, ki runga, ki te rangi. Topics will include climate change, biodiversity, soil health, biodynamics, regenerative viticulture and much more.
The conference committee is excited to announce the first four keynote speakers are Rajat Parr – USA, Katia Nussbaum – Italy, Joseph Brinkley – USA, and Dr Mike Joy – NZ.
Rajat Parr, an ex-sommelier turned organic winegrower is a big name in the wine scene in the US. “We’re overjoyed he can make it,” says conference committee co-chair Nick Pett.
London-born Katia Nussbaum, together with her husband Luigi, run San Polino, a regenerative organic winery in southern Tuscany, “Trained in social anthropology, Katia has a unique and beautiful perspective on wine and will speak on their vitiforestry project, climate change action and biodiversity,” says conference committee member Anika Willner.
Joseph Brinkley is the Director of Regenerative Organic Farming at Bonterra Organic Estates, USA. “We’ve been aspiring to bring someone from Bonterra to the conference for years. Bonterra is America’s #1 organic winery so the knowledge and expertise Joseph can share with growers here will be phenomenal,” says conference committee member Erica Crawford.
Dr Mike Joy is an outspoken advocate for environmental protection in New Zealand. He has received a number of awards for his work. Learn more about the conference and stay up to date as further speakers are confirmed via the conference website.
