For the first time in its 34-year history, the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction is heading north, with the launch of their Auckland Preview + Tasting Evening. Wine lovers will get an exclusive for look at the 2026 Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction at Caro’s Wine Merchants in Grey Lynn on Tuesday 28 July, ahead of the annual auction in Hawke’s Bay on Saturday 12 September.
Hosted by Master of Wine Mike Henley and Event Ambassador Mike McRoberts, the evening will offer guests the rare opportunity to meet Hawke’s Bay winemakers, hear the stories behind this year’s auction lots, and taste a selection of twenty wines, many that are unavailable to acquire anywhere else.
As the largest private annual fundraiser for Cranford Hospice, the auction has raised more than $5 million for hospice care while showcasing the very best of Hawke’s Bay winemaking.
Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction General Manager Sam Kershaw said the Auckland event was an exciting new chapter for the auction.
“We are thrilled to be taking this event to Aucklanders, where we know there is a vibrant community of wine enthusiasts. Our winemakers are looking forward to meeting them, and sharing their wines and all the great stories behind them,” said Kershaw.
“From one-off blends to large-format lots and wines unavailable through retail channels, this is a chance for wine lovers to discover something truly special and hear first-hand how these wines came to life.”
This event is hosted in conjunction with Auckland’s Wine Auction Room, which will offer live online bidding for the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction in September for both individuals and syndicates.
